Parental Rights Group Warns Illinois District 128 Over Overnight Trips and Locker Rooms
Liberty Justice Center sent a letter citing Title IX and parental rights; the district could not be reached for comment.

A conservative-leaning legal group has put an Illinois school district on notice. According to the Daily Herald, the Liberty Justice Center's PARENTS Initiative sent a letter to Libertyville-Vernon Hills Township High School District 128, signed by attorney Kathryn Cosgrove.
The letter raises concerns about overnight-trip lodging by gender identity, nondisclosure to parents of a student's transgender status, locker-room access, and opt-outs from certain library materials and curriculum. It cites Title IX and parents' constitutional rights to direct their children's upbringing.
The district could not be reached for comment by the newspaper. That means we have one side of the dispute. District policies in Illinois follow state law and guidance that may differ from the group's reading, and no lawsuit has been filed that we are aware of.
Why it matters: across the country, parents and school boards are testing where school authority ends and family authority begins. For families of faith, the question is often practical: what will my child be asked to do, and will I be told? We will follow the district's response.
